Fire Drills

Throughout the school year, we have several fire drills in order to prepare the students in case there is an actual fire emergency. When the alarm sounds, students line up quickly and quietly. They follow their teacher to the nearest exit door and walk to the far end of our parking lot. Once all students are accounted for and the school is deemed safe for re-entry, everyone walks back to their classrooms.

Additionally, all students participate in a fire safety presentation conducted by the Whitehall Fire Department each October. As part of Fire Safety Month, the children are taught how to avoid being injured by fire or smoke. They also learn about the job of a firefighter while getting an up-close view of real fire trucks and safety gear. The students always look forward to receiving the fire safety gift package which include a fire fighter hat, Safety color book, and other materials that enhance the students understanding of how to stay safe.
